An ultrasound of the KUB (kidneys, ureters, and bladder) with lower abdomen is a non-invasive imaging study used to assess the urinary system and pelvic organs. The KUB component evaluates the kidneys for size, shape, cortical echotexture, calculi, cysts, hydronephrosis, or other structural abnormalities. The ureters are examined, if visualized, for evidence of dilatation or obstruction. The urinary bladder is assessed for wall thickness, residual urine, and intraluminal pathology such as stones or masses. The lower abdominal scan includes evaluation of the uterus, ovaries, and adnexa in females, or the prostate and seminal vesicles in males. It helps identify fibroids, cysts, adnexal masses, or prostate enlargement. This combined examination is useful for investigating urinary symptoms, pelvic pain, menstrual irregularities, or infertility. Ultrasound KUB with lower abdomen is safe, painless, and radiation-free, providing valuable diagnostic information for effective clinical assessment and management of urinary and pelvic conditions.
