About This Test
The ME Panel is a rapid multiplex PCR test performed on cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) to detect the most common viral, bacterial, and fungal causes of meningitis and encephalitis. It provides results in about 2 hours , drastically faster than traditional diagnostic methods. This test involves 7viruses and 6 bacteria and 1 fungus. This test is useful in early Optimization of Antimicrobial Therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is molecular testing?
Molecular testing is a type of laboratory test that analyzes molecules in the body—usually DNA, RNA, or proteins—to detect diseases, infections, genetic conditions, or other biological changes using advanced technique like PCR.
2. Do I need special preparation?
No special preparation.
3. How long does reporting take?
Sample before 5pm, reports in 2-3 hours. After 5pm report next day morning 11am.
4. Why this test is important ?
Meningitis/Encephalitis Panel (Biofire FilmArray) is important because it allows rapid and accurate detection of pathogens causing meningitis and encephalitis, which are life-threatening infections of the brain and spinal cord.
TAT Policy
The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:
- Registration date and time
- Type of scan or test
- Scan time or sample collection time
In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
