The Pneumonia Plus Panel is a rapid, multiplex PCR test used to identify the most common viral, bacterial, and antimicrobial resistance markers associated with lower respiratory tract infections (LRTIs). This test can done in Sputum, BAL Fluid. Multiplex means multiple test in single sample. It gives a fast diagnosis about 2 hours. This test involves 9 viruses, 18 bacteria. 7 AMR genes.

1. What is molecular testing?
Molecular testing is a type of laboratory test that analyzes molecules in the body—usually DNA, RNA, or proteins—to detect diseases, infections, genetic conditions, or other biological changes using advanced technique like PCR.
2. Do I need special preparation?
No special preparation.
3. How long does reporting take?
Sample before 5pm, reports in 2-3 hours. After 5pm report next day morning 11am.
4. Why this test is important ?
Pneumonia Plus Panel (Biofire FilmArray) is important because it allows rapid, comprehensive detection of pathogens causing pneumonia, helping doctors diagnose accurately, start targeted treatment, and prevent complications.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
