A PICC line (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) culture and sensitivity test is performed to detect infection at the catheter tip or lumen and identify the microorganisms responsible. It also determines which antibiotics the organisms are sensitive or resistant to. This test is crucial for diagnosing catheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSIs) in hospitalized or long-term care patients. This test helps diagnose atheter-related bloodstream infections (CRBSI), Local PICC site infection, Septicemia originating from catheter.
