HIV I & II Antibody (Third Generation)

Also Known As: HIV third generation
The HIV Immunochromatography test with p24 antigen is a blood test used to detect: HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibodies (IgG and IgM) & p24 antigen, a viral protein that appears early in infection. This method is the rapid diagnosis for the test. This combination allows for early detection of HIV infection, sometimes within 2–4 weeks of exposure. During window period (gap between infection & seroconversion), virus is present in the body although the results for the antibody will be negative. Hence a retest 6 months later is recommended. This test is the first step in HIV diagnosis and is widely used in screening, early detection, and public health programs.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
