The Insulin F/PP Test measures insulin levels in two states:
1. Fasting Insulin (F) – after 8–10 hours of fasting
2. Post-Prandial Insulin (PP) – typically 2 hours after a meal or 75g glucose load
This combination helps assess how the pancreas responds to both baseline and post-meal glucose levels.Insulin is produced by the beta cells of the Pancreas. It leads to Type 1 (IDDM) Diabetes caused by insulin deficiency and Type 2 (NIDDM) Diabetes caused by insulin resistance. This assay is useful in the management of Diabetes and for diagnosing Insulinoma when used in conjunction with Proinsulin and C-peptide measurement.
Over night fasting mandatory.
Submit Insulin PP sample after 1.45 hrs to 2 hrs after finishing meal
