The incidence of heavy metal toxicity is very common in general population, which can lead to serious and sometimes irreversible damage to renal, cardiovascular and nervous systems. The diseases caused by exposure to heavy metals, if identified early, are easily treatable. Most common toxicities are associated with exposure to Lead, Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium and Mercury. According to the Guidelines of NIOSH, OSHA, USCG & EPA, the workers of Battery industry, Paint manufacturing industry, Glass manufacturing industry, Rubber industry, Recycling sites for metals, Electronics and Automobile parts, Cement industries etc. should undergo periodic (once a year) medical examination and estimation of metallic content in blood and urine.

4 mL (2 mL min.) whole blood from 1 metal free Royal Blue Top (K2EDTA) tube available from LPL AND 10 mL (5 mL min.) aliquot of random urine collected in an acid-washed (metal free) container available from LPL. Ship refrigerated. DO NOT FREEZE. Patient should avoid eating seafood at least 3 days prior to specimen collection.

1. What Is outsourced test ?
Outsourced test are being done from Dr. Lal Path Lab. Charges and reporting time is same as of Dr. Lal Path Labs.
2. Any Preparation for the test ?
Patient should avoid eating seafood at least 3 days prior to specimen collection. If Gadolinium or Iodine containing contrast media has been administered, the specimen should not be collected for 96 hours.
3. Why this test is important ?
The Heavy Metal Screen measures levels of toxic metals in the body, such as lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium, and others. This test is important for detecting toxic exposure early, preventing organ damage, and guiding treatment to remove these metals.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
