About This Test
The BioFire® FilmArray Joint Infection (JI) Panel is a rapid, multiplex PCR test designed to identify the most common pathogens and key antimicrobial resistance markers associated with joint infections such as septic arthritis. It analyzes synovial fluid and delivers results in about 2 hour, making it far faster than traditional culture methods. This test involves 29 bacteria, 2yeast, 8AMR genes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Molecular testing is a type of laboratory test that analyzes molecules in the body—usually DNA, RNA, or proteins—to detect diseases, infections, genetic conditions, or other biological changes using advanced technique like PCR.
No special preparation.
Sample before 5pm, reports in 2-3 hours. After 5pm report next day morning 11am.
Joint Infection Panel (Biofire FilmArray) is important because it allows rapid and precise detection of pathogens causing joint infections (septic arthritis or prosthetic joint infections), which can prevent serious complications like joint destruction or systemic infection.
TAT Policy
The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:
- Registration date and time
- Type of scan or test
- Scan time or sample collection time
In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
