The HBV Quantitative by TRUNAT test is a molecular test (PCR-based) that measures the amount of Hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA in the blood. This test helps in diagnosis of Active Hepatitis B Infection to detect if the virus is currently replicating. Useful for patients on antiviral medications such as tenofovir, entecavir, lamivudine to monitor the response to treatment. chronic infection with hepatitis B increases your chances of developing liver failure, cirrhosis or liver cancer. Hepatitis B virus is passed from person to person through blood, semen & other body fluids like saliva. it can be passed from infected pregnant mother to the baby during child birth. It also spreads through accidental needle stick injuries or in drug users who share the needles.

1. What is molecular testing?
Molecular testing is a type of laboratory test that analyzes molecules in the body—usually DNA, RNA, or proteins—to detect diseases, infections, genetic conditions, or other biological changes using advanced technique like PCR.
2. Do I need special preparation?
No special preparation.
3. How long does reporting take?
Mon-Sat Sample before 11am, report same day. After 11 am or sunday, report nex day.
4. Why this test is important ?
Hepatitis B Viral DNA (HBV DNA) Quantitative test is important because it measures the amount of hepatitis B virus in the blood, helping doctors assess infection activity, guide treatment, and monitor response to therapy.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
