A Wet Smear (Wet Mount) test is a microscopic examination of a fresh, unstained sample placed on a glass slide with a drop of saline or KOH. It helps detect live cells, parasites, fungi, and microorganisms in various body fluids. It is commonly used for vaginal, urethral, semen, stool, and other fluid samples. The test helps in diagnosing Vaginitis, Vaginitis, Candida infection, Trichomoniasis and more.

1. What are microbiology tests?
Microbiology tests detect disease-causing microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites in samples like blood, urine, sputum, stool, pus, or body fluids.

No special preparation.
3. How long does reporting take?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, reports same day and Sunday reports next day.
4. Why this test is important ?
A wet smear (or wet mount) is important because it allows rapid, direct detection of motile microorganisms and other abnormalities in clinical samples.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
