Platelet large cell Ratio (PLCR)

HAEMATOLOGY

Platelet large cell Ratio (PLCR)

Also Known As: PLCR
PLCR (Platelet Large Cell Ratio) is a platelet parameter reported in advanced CBC analyzers. It measures the percentage of large platelets (usually >12 fL) in the blood. Large platelets are younger, more active, and more functionally reactive than small platelets. PLCR helps in evaluation of Platelet Production vs Destruction, useful in dengue monitoring, cardiovascular risk monitoring.

1. What are hematology tests?
Hematology tests are blood tests that study blood cells and related parameters to assess overall health and detect blood-related disorders.
2. Do I need to report fasting?
This Test does not require fasting.
3. How soon will I get reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, reports same day and Sunday reports next day.
4. Why this test is important ?
The PLCR test is important because it measures the proportion of large platelets, assesses bone marrow platelet production, helps diagnose platelet disorders, predicts bleeding or clotting risk, monitors treatment, and complements other platelet parameters.
5. Are the machines automated?
Yes, fully automated analysers are used.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
