MCHC measures the average concentration of hemoglobin in a given volume of red blood cells (RBCs). It tells you how densely hemoglobin is packed inside each RBC.It is a component of the Complete blood count (CBC)/ Hemogram test. It helps classify type of anemia like hypochromic anemia, normochromic anemia, hyperchromic anemia. Helps in diagnosis of iron deficiency anemia, thalassemia, vitamin B12 or folate deficiency.

Yes, fully automated analysers are used.
