Differential leucocyte count (DLC)

HAEMATOLOGY

Differential leucocyte count (DLC)

Also Known As: DLC
The Differential Leucocyte Count (DLC) measures the percentage of different types of white blood cells (WBCs) in the blood. It helps identify infections, inflammation, allergic reactions, and blood disorders. Commonly there are 5 different type of WBC ie Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Eosinophils, Monocytes & Basophils. These cells together form the Differential leucocyte count (DLC). DLC helps in determining the body’s immune response; identifying abnormal or immature cells; early detection of serious diseases (sepsis, leukemias); providing crucial information even when total WBC count is normal.

1. What are hematology tests?
Hematology tests are blood tests that study blood cells and related parameters to assess overall health and detect blood-related disorders.
2. Do I need to report fasting?
This Test does not require fasting.
3. How soon will I get reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, reports same day and Sunday reports next day.
4. Why this test is important ?
The Differential Leukocyte Count (DLC) test is important because it evaluates the different types of white blood cells (WBCs) in the blood, giving detailed insight into the immune system, infections, inflammation, and blood disorders.
5. Are the machines automated?
Yes, fully automated analysers are used.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
