Also Known As:

NCV (UPPER / LOWER LIMBS)

Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) testing assesses how fast and efficiently nerves carry electrical signals. When performed on the upper or lower limbs, NCV helps diagnose common nerve disorders such as carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar nerve compression, radiculopathy, sciatica, and peripheral neuropathy. During the test, small electrical pulses stimulate the nerves, and electrodes placed along the nerve pathway measure how quickly the signal travels. NCV identifies nerve damage, its location, and its severity. It helps distinguish between nerve compression, demyelination (damage to nerve covering), and axonal loss (damage to the nerve fiber itself). The test is essential for patients with numbness, tingling, burning sensations, muscle weakness, or unexplained limb pain. When paired with EMG, NCV offers a full picture of nerve and muscle function. It is a safe and non-invasive study.

1. No special requirements.
2. Patient may feel some pain of needle pricks / current stimulation
3. Apply no body lotion.
4. Bring old record.
5. Patient required to lie down with no movement .
6.Following directions of applying force in opposite direction is important for test. So it is not possible in small children who can  not follow directions. Similarly it is not possible after oral / IV sedation.
7. wearing loose clothes.

TAT Policy

The Turnaround Time (TAT) for a test depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

Please note that in uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to the complexity of the test or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed about the estimated TAT at the time of registration or after completion of the test.
