Also Known As:

EMG + NCV (UPPER OR LOWER LIMBS)

The combined EMG + NCV study for the upper or lower limbs assesses both nerve conduction and muscle function in a specific region. NCV testing evaluates the speed and strength of signals traveling through peripheral nerves, while EMG records muscle activity using needle electrodes. This combination is essential for diagnosing nerve compression syndromes (such as carpal tunnel or neuropraxia), radiculopathy, peripheral neuropathy, plexus injuries, and muscle disorders. The test helps determine whether symptoms like numbness, weakness, tingling, or pain originate from nerve damage, muscle disease, or spinal issues. By examining either the upper or lower limbs, doctors can accurately locate the affected nerves and determine the severity of impairment. This targeted approach allows for precise diagnosis, personalized treatment planning, and monitoring of recovery or disease progression.

1. No special requirements.
2. Patient may feel some pain of needle pricks / current stimulation
3. Apply no body lotion.
4. Bring old record.
5. Patient required to lie down with no movement .
6.Following directions of applying force in opposite direction is important for test. So it is not possible in small children who can  not follow directions. Similarly it is not possible after oral / IV sedation.
7. wearing loose clothes.
