A 48-hour Holter monitor is a portable device used to record the heart’s electrical activity continuously over two days. Unlike a standard 24 hrs monitoring, it captures 48 Hrs of heart rhythm, a Holter monitor provides a detailed, long-term view of how the heart functions during normal daily activities and sleep. Small electrodes are placed on the chest and connected to a compact recorder worn on a belt or shoulder strap. The device captures every heartbeat, helping identify arrhythmias, pauses, fast or slow rhythms, and irregular patterns that may not appear during a short clinic visit. Patients are encouraged to continue their usual routine while keeping a note of symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, or chest discomfort. After 48 hours, one has to come to the clinic for removal of the device, where the recorded data is analyzed. This extended monitoring offers valuable insight into heart rhythm behavior and supports accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
