About This Test
This X-ray study includes an anteroposterior (AP) view of both knees taken in the erect (standing) position. The erect stance helps evaluate joint alignment under weight-bearing conditions, which is essential for assessing osteoarthritis, joint space narrowing, and lower limb alignment issues. It also helps detect fractures, bone lesions, degenerative changes, and early deformities. The test is commonly advised for suspected arthritis, valgus/varus deformities, and comparison between both knees. Weight-bearing AP views are especially important for planning knee replacement or evaluating the progression of degenerative diseases.
