1. What is Oral Cytology?
Oral cytology is a simple laboratory test in which cells are collected from the mouth lining to examine for infection, inflammation, precancerous changes, or cancer.
2. What samples are used?
The oral smear from mouth.
3. Is test painful?
No. The test is non-invasive and painless.
4. How soon are reports available?
Most cytology reports are ready within 24–48 hours.
5. Why is cytology done?
To identify lumps, swellings, infections and early cancerous changes.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
