A Liquid-Based Pap Smear is a modern cervical cancer screening test used to detect precancerous cervical changes (CIN lesions), cervical cancer, human Papillomavirus (HPV)-related changes, infections (fungal, bacterial, parasitic). In this method, cervical cells collected from the cervix are placed into a liquid preservative solution, processed in the lab, and then examined microscopically. This technique is more accurate and cleaner compared to the conventional Pap smear.
