FNAC is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure used to evaluate lumps, swellings, or abnormal tissue masses in the body like breast, skin, thyroid, lymph nodes etc.It helps determine whether a lesion is non-cancerous (benign), cancerous (malignant), or infectious/inflammatory. The collected material is smeared on slides, stained, and examined under a microscope by a pathologist.

Preparation / Prerequisite
Aspirate material from Breast / Thyroid/ Superficial swellings / CT or USG guided deep lumps. Smears are prepared and slides are fixed immediately in absolute alcohol for 30 seconds and then air dried completely. Brief clinical history is mandatory. Completely filled consent form for FNAC is mandatory.
