Urine specific gravity (SG) measures how concentrated or dilute the urine is compared to water. This test helps to detect conditions like dehydration, Diabetes insipidus & kidney problems. High specific gravity is seen in dehydration, diarrhea, vomiting, congestive heart failure & shock. Low specific gravity is seen in Diabetes insipidus, kidney failure, excessive water intake & use of diuretics.
