The Stool for Eosinophils test looks for the presence of eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) in stool. Eosinophils appear in stool when the intestinal mucosa is inflamed, ulcerated, or infiltrated by parasites. It is a supportive test in diagnosing parasitic infections especially tissue-invading parasites e.g., Strongyloides, Ancylostoma, Ascaris, Trichuris, Schistosoma, Toxocara; allergic GI disorders or eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases, Eosinophilic colitis ; Inflammatory Bowel Conditions like Ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, post-infective colitis.
