A semen examination evaluates male fertility, sperm production, and seminal fluid quality. It is the primary test for male infertility assessment.This test helps to check sperm count, motility, vitalityand morphology which detects causes of male factor infertility. It also checks for fructose level in semen. This test helps to evaluate reproductive disorders like varicocele, hormonal problems, testicular failure, ejaculatory duct obstruction, infection/inflammation of male genital tract. Semen Examination must follows an instructions for the collection of sample ie 2–7 days of abstinence before sample collection because shorter or longer abstinence affects sperm count & motility. If collected at home then deliver to lab within 10-15 minutes.

No seminal discharge for 3-5 days prior to the test semen collection in the laboratory container by masturbation. Do not use any other container or condoms for collection.

Immediately prior to collection, patient should urinate, wash genital area with warm water and dry the part. Collect the entire ejaculate. Specimen must be kept at body temperature (shirt pocket- 37°C) after collection.

1. What does Clinical Pathology include?
It covers tests on urine, stool and body fluids to detect infections, inflammation and other
conditions.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
No, Fasting is not required.
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?

5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
Yes — a semen examination (semen analysis) can detect certain early health problems, particularly related to reproductive and hormonal health.
