Urinary Microalbumin/Creatinine Ratio (MAU)

CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

Urinary Microalbumin/Creatinine Ratio (MAU)

Also Known As: U. MAU MAU ACR
The Urinary Microalbumin/Creatinine Ratio (MAU) test measures the ratio of albumin (mg) to creatinine (g or mmol) in a spot urine sample. It is a convenient and accurate alternative to the 24-hour urinary microalbumin test, as it corrects for variations in urine concentration by comparing albumin excretion to creatinine output. Microalbuminuria (MAU) indicates early glomerular damage, particularly in diabetic and hypertensive nephropathy, and serves as a predictor of renal and cardiovascular disease.

1. What tests are done in Clinical Biochemistry?
These tests measure things like blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol and
electrolytes.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
No, Fasting is not required.
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?
Yes. We use fully automated machines that ensure accurate and consistent results.
5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
Yes — a 24-hour urinary microalbumin (MAU) test can detect early health problems, especially early kidney damage.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
