Spot urinary Uric acid

CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

Spot urinary Uric acid

Also Known As: Random Urine UA Urine for Uric acid
The Spot Urine Uric Acid test measures the concentration of uric acid in a single urine sample. It helps evaluate uric acid metabolism and renal handling of urate, giving insights into kidney function, gout, and risk of uric acid stone formation. Clinically this test is used to evaluate causes of hyperuricemia or gout, assess renal handling of uric acid, investigate recurrent uric acid kidney stones, monitor response to therapy (e.g., allopurinol, uricosuric drugs), assess tumor lysis syndrome risk or management.
