Spot Urinary Creatinine

CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

Spot Urinary Creatinine

Also Known As: Random Urine Cr Urine for creatinine
The Spot Urinary Creatinine test measures the concentration of creatinine in a single, random urine sample. Creatinine is a breakdown product of creatine phosphate in muscle, produced at a fairly constant rate and excreted unchanged by the kidneys. Therefore, its concentration in urine reflects both Kidney excretory function, and Urine concentration (hydration status). The spot urine creatinine value is often used to normalize other spot urine test results (e.g., protein/creatinine, calcium/creatinine ratios).

  • SPOT URINARY CREATININE
1. What tests are done in Clinical Biochemistry?
These tests measure things like blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol and
electrolytes.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
No, Fasting is not required.
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?
Yes. We use fully automated machines that ensure accurate and consistent results.
5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
Yes — a spot (random) urinary creatinine test can help detect early health problems, It measures creatinine concentration in a single urine sample.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
