Prolactin is a hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland (a small gland located at the base of the brain). It plays an important role in reproductive and sexual health, and though it is most known for promoting lactation in females, men also produce prolactin in smaller amounts. In men, prolactin helps regulate: Testosterone production ,Sperm formation, Sexual drive (libido) An abnormal prolactin level may indicate a pituitary gland disorder, hormonal imbalance, or side effects of medication.

Yes. Prolactin testing in a male patient can detect early health problems, particularly hormonal, pituitary, or reproductive disorders.
