Leutinising Hormone (LH)

CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

Leutinising Hormone (LH)

Also Known As: LH Serum LH
Luteinizing Hormone (LH) is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland. It plays a key role in the reproductive system in both men and women. The LH test measures the level of this hormone in the blood and helps evaluate fertility, menstrual health, puberty, and hormonal balance. LH and FSH regulate and stimulate the growth and function of the gonads (ovaries and testis) synergistically. In men it serves to induce the formation of testosterone and in women, it stimulates the growth and maturation of the follicle and hence also the biosynthesis of estrogen in the follicle. Determination of LH is used in elucidation of dysfunctions within the hypothalamus- pituitary-gonad system.

1. What tests are done in Clinical Biochemistry?
These tests measure things like blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol, electrolytes.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
No, Fasting is not required.
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?
Yes. We use fully automated machines that ensure accurate and consistent results.
5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
Yes. LH (Luteinizing Hormone) testing can help detect early health problems, particularly reproductive, hormonal, and fertility-related disorders.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
