CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

Gamma GT (GGTP)

Also Known As: GGTP
Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT/GGTP) is an enzyme found mainly in the liver, and to some extent in the bile ducts, pancreas, and kidneys. It plays a role in amino acid transport and glutathione metabolism. Commonly this test is done to detect liver damage, evaluate Bile Duct Disorders, Monitor Alcohol Use, Follow up in case of Hepatitis, Fatty liver disease. 1. What tests are done in Clinical Biochemistry?
These tests measure things like blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol, electrolytes.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
Fasting is not required.
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?
Yes. We use fully automated machines that ensure accurate and consistent results.
5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
Yes, GGT (Gamma-Glutamyl Transpeptidase, also called GGTP) testing can help detect early health problems, mainly related to the liver, bile ducts, and alcohol-related liver damage.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
