Fluid For Albumin

Also Known As: Fluid for Alb
The Fluid for Albumin test measures the amount of albumin protein present in body cavity fluids such as: Ascitic fluid (abdominal fluid), Pleural fluid (around lungs), Peritoneal fluid, Pericardial fluid. Albumin levels in body fluids help determine the cause of fluid accumulation, especially whether it is due to liver disease, heart failure, infection, or cancer. Fluid albumin is a crucial marker for identifying the cause of fluid buildup and distinguishing between systemic (transudative) and inflammatory (exudative) processes, especially in ascites and pleural effusion.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
