CSF for Protein

The CSF (Cerebrospinal Fluid) Protein Test measures the amount of protein present in cerebrospinal fluid, the clear liquid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord. CSF is collected through a lumbar puncture (spinal tap). Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) protein measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of conditions such as meningitis, brain tumors and infections of the central nervous system. Most CSF protein originates by diffusion from plasma across the blood‑CSF barrier. Elevated levels occur as a result of increased permeability of the blood‑CSF barrier or with increased local synthesis of immunoglobulins.

  • CSF FOR PROTEIN
1. What tests are done in Clinical Biochemistry?
These tests measure things like blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol, electrolytes.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
Fasting is not required.
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?
Yes. We use fully automated machines that ensure accurate and consistent results.
5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
Yes, CSF (Cerebrospinal Fluid) protein is an important marker that can help detect several health problems affecting the brain and spinal cord.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
