About This Test
A CPK-MB test measures the MB isoenzyme of creatine phosphokinase (CPK or CK) in the blood. CPK-MB is found mainly in heart muscle, so the test is used to check for heart muscle injury. This test helps to diagnose -
1. Heart attack (myocardial infarction)
2. Re-injury of heart muscle after a previous heart attack
3. Heart inflammation (myocarditis)
4. Heart trauma or surgery
5. Sometimes to differentiate heart muscle injury from skeletal muscle injury

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What tests are done in Clinical Biochemistry?
These tests measure things like blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol, electrolytes and CPK-MB.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
Fasting is not required.
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?
Yes. We use fully automated machines that ensure accurate and consistent results.
5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
Yes, CPK-MB (Creatine Phosphokinase – MB isoenzyme) can help detect certain health problems, primarily related to the heart.
TAT Policy
The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:
- Registration date and time
- Type of scan or test
- Scan time or sample collection time
In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
