CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

CPK

Also Known As: CPK-Total Creatinine Kinase CK
Creatine Phosphokinase (CPK) — also known as Creatine Kinase (CK) — is an enzyme found primarily in muscle tissues (skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscle) and brain tissue. It plays a key role in energy metabolism, catalyzing the reversible conversion of creatine and ATP → phosphocreatine and ADP, which provides energy for muscle contraction. CPK levels rise when muscle or brain tissue is damaged, releasing the enzyme into the bloodstream

1. What tests are done in Clinical Biochemistry?
These tests measure things like blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol, electrolytes and CPK.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
Fasting is not required.
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?
Yes. We use fully automated machines that ensure accurate and consistent results.
5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
Yes — CPK (Creatine Phosphokinase), also called CK (Creatine Kinase), can help detect health problems, mainly those related to muscle or heart damage.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
