Apo A 1 and Apo B are useful in the evaluation of risk for atherosclerotic disease. Apolipoprotein B (Apo B) is a major protein component of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) comprising >90% of the LDL proteins and constituting 20% to 25% of the total weight of LDL.Apo B levels are useful in suspected abetalipoproteinemia or hypobetalipoproteinemia.Studies have shown that the Apo A-1: Apo B ratio distinguishes unequivocally between persons with and those without CHD. Therefore, Apolipoprotein A-1 and B studies are superior to conventional Total cholesterol or HDL- & LDL- cholesterol studies for predicting risk of Atherosclerosis. It is now proved in case studies that individuals with angiographically confirmed heart disease have significantly lower Apo A-1 and higher Apo B levels compared to normal persons.

1. What tests are done in Clinical Biochemistry?
These tests measure things like blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol, electrolytes and Apo A1 & B.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
Yes, Fasting is required.
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?
Yes. We use fully automated machines that ensure accurate and consistent results.
5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
Apo A1 and Apo B testing helps detect early health problems by assessing “good” and “bad” cholesterol particles.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
