Apolipoprotein A 1

CLINICAL BIOCHEMISTRY

Apolipoprotein A 1

Also Known As: Apo A1
Apolipoprotein A-I (Apo A-I) is the main protein component of High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) particles in plasma. It plays a vital role in reverse cholesterol transport, helping remove excess cholesterol from tissues and arteries to the liver for excretion. Apo A-I levels reflect the functional capacity of HDL cholesterol and are a strong indicator of cardiovascular protection. Low Apo A-I levels are associated with increased risk of atherosclerosis and coronary artery disease (CAD).

1. What tests are done in Clinical Biochemistry?
These tests measure things like blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol, electrolytes and Apo A
1.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
Yes, Fasting is required.
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?
Yes. We use fully automated machines that ensure accurate and consistent results.
5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
Apo A (Apolipoprotein A-I) testing helps detect early health problems by assessing protective cholesterol levels (HDL).

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
