The ACE Blood Test measures the enzyme responsible for converting angiotensin I to angiotensin II. It is most useful as a biomarker for sarcoidosis, where levels reflect granuloma load and disease activity.
However, results must always be interpreted in conjunction with clinical and radiological findings.
Elevated ACE  levels are found in a high percentage of patients with sarcoidosis. This test is primarily used in patients with sarcoidosis to evaluate the severity of disease and the response to therapy. Elevated ACE levels also occur in conditions other than sarcoidosis, including Gaucher's disease (a rare familial disorder of fat metabolism), leprosy, alcoholic cirrhosis, active histoplasmosis, tuberculosis, Hodgkin's disease, myeloma, scleroderma, pulmonary embolism and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

1. What tests are done in Clinical Biochemistry?
These tests measure things like blood sugar, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol, electrolytes and ACE.
2. Do I need to report fasting?before these tests?
Fasting is not required for ACE
3. How soon will I get my reports?
Mon-Sat, sample before 4pm, report same day and sunday reports, next day.
4. Are biochemistry tests reliable?
Yes. We use fully automated machines that ensure accurate and consistent results.
5. Can these tests detect early health problems?
ACE (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme) testing helps detect health problems by measuring enzyme levels in the blood.
Abnormal ACE levels may indicate sarcoidosis, chronic inflammatory diseases, granulomatous disorders, and some lung conditions, supporting early diagnosis and monitoring.

The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
