About This Test
Uroflowmetry is a simple, non-invasive test that measures the speed, volume, and pattern of urine flow to evaluate bladder and urinary tract obstruction.
Patient should hold urine to near maximum capacity & pass at desire. When patient wants to pee, techie will switch on machine & take you to urolfowmetry room. Techie will check that system is ready by checking lights on machine. He / she is made to stand/ sit on a uroflowmetry pot & asked to pass urine.
This test is commonly used to diagnose conditions such as urethral strictures, bladder outlet obstruction and other urinary disorders. It is also useful for assessing symptoms like slow stream, dribbling, hesitancy, or incomplete emptying. Uroflowmetry is frequently performed before and after treatments to monitor progress. Because it is quick, painless, and does not require any invasive instruments, it is suitable for patients of all ages, including children. The results guide urologists in determining whether further tests, medications, or surgical interventions are needed to improve urinary function and overall bladder health.
