A Throat Swab Culture & Sensitivity (C/S) test is performed to detect bacterial or fungal infections in the throat, tonsils, and upper respiratory tract. It is commonly done to diagnose bacterial pharyngitis (throat infection), especially when Streptococcus infection is suspected. Automated systems help in rapid and accurate identification of organisms and their antibiotic sensitivity profile. It helps identify the exact organism causing infection and select the right antibiotic.
