TORCH is a group of infections screened in pregnancy or when congenital infection is suspected. The IgM antibody tests detect recent or current infection.Positive Torch IgM may cause harm the fetus. The components tested in Torch are: Toxoplasma gondii (toxoplasmosis), Rubella, Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 & 2). This test is used in pregnancy or in newborns with signs of congenital infection (e.g., rash, jaundice, growth restriction, or neurological signs).

    A serology test is a laboratory blood test that detects and measures antibodies or antigens in the blood to determine whether a person has been exposed to, infected by, or developed immunity to a particular disease.

    Fasting is not required.

    Sample before 10am tues, report same day.

    The TORCH IgM test detects IgM antibodies against infections included in the TORCH group—Toxoplasma, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Herpes simplex virus (HSV), and others. IgM antibodies appear early in infection, making this test crucial for identifying recent or active infections, especially during pregnancy.

  • Registration date and time
  • Type of scan or test
  • Scan time or sample collection time

Please note that in uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to the complexity of the test or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed about the estimated TAT at the time of registration or after completion of the test.
