Anti-dsDNA (anti–double-stranded DNA) antibodies are autoantibodies that target the body’s own double-stranded DNA, they are serological marker for this disease with a prevalence of 20-90%. Antibodies against dsDNA are also occasionally detected in patients with other autoimmune diseases and rarely, in clinically healthy people. The definite diagnosis should be made by the physician after all clinical and lab finding have been evaluated.

  • Description

When people are exposed to virus or bacteria their body’s immune system generates particular antibodies against the organism. Antibody levels help physicians decide if an infection appeared recently or some time ago. Viral infections, bacterial infections and others can be diagnosed with the help of serological studies.
