About This Test
This is an indirect fluorescent antibody test for the semiquantitative detection of antinuclear antibody that react against components of the cell nucleus in human serum. Immunofluorescence microscopy using HEp 2000 ANA test system with transfected mitotic , human epitheloid cells (HEp 2) is an advanced and sensitive system for detection of ANA that react with various cellular proteins & nucleic acid. Anti nuclear antibody (ANA/ANF) is a group of autoantibodies directed against various cell nuclear proteins. These antibodies are found with high frequency in patients with connective tissue disorders like SLE , Sjogrens syndrome , mixed connective tissue disease , rheumatoid arthritis , polymyositis etc. The positive results are interpreted according to pattern observed and diseases are associated with that pattern.
