C1 INH deficiency is one of the commonest inherited complement deficiencies leading to life-threatening angioedema (Hereditary Angioedema). In around 85% of the cases of Hereditary Angioedema, there is actual deficiency of functionally active C1 INH. However in rest of the cases, C1 INH levels may be normal or elevated but functionally inactive. This test is specially useful in diagnosis of Hereditary Angioedema cases where C1 esterase inhibitor concentration is normal or elevated. It also helps in monitoring levels of C1 INH in response to therapy.
2 mL (0.5 mL min.) Serum from 1 Red Top (No Additive) tube. Do not use SST gel barrier tubes. Separate serum within 1 hour of collection and freeze. Ship frozen. DO NOT THAW. .
