Bacterial vaginosis is an enzyme activity test for use in the detection of vaginal fluid specimens for sialidase enzyme activity produced by bacterial pathogens such as Gardenella vaginalis, Bacteriodes spp, Prevotella spp and Mobiluncus spp. Complications associated with BV includes salpingitis, endometritis, post-hysterectomy infections, recurrent UTI and increased risk of PID.
