Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) is a complex syndrome resulting from repeated exposure to a variety of organic particles. HP may present as acute, subacute or chronic clinical forms but with frequent overlap of these forms. It is useful in the diagnosis of Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis & Hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Aspergillus fumigatus is one of the most commonly implicated antigen to cause Hypersenstivity pneumonitis. This assay is also included in the diagnostic criteria for ABPA (Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis) by ISHAM (International society for Human & Animal Mycology) working group. It has a sensitivity of 88% and specificity of 100% at cutoff of 26.9 mg/L.
