About This Test
This assay is used for evaluation of patients with incident or recurrent Venous Thromboembolism, with family history of Venous Thromboembolism and in women with recurrent miscarriage or complications of pregnancy. It may also be used for evaluating individuals with history of Arterial thrombosis.

It is recommended that patient discontinues Heparin for 1 day and Oral Anticoagulants for 7 days prior to sampling as these drugs may affect test results. Discontinuation should be with prior consent from the treating Physician.
Activated Protein C (APC) Resistance test is important because it helps identify a genetic tendency for abnormal blood clotting (thrombophilia), most commonly due to Factor V Leiden mutation.
