About This Test
Thrombin time (TT) measures the final step of coagulation - the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin to form the clot. Most common cause of prolonged TT is the presence of heparin in the sample. Other causes of prolonged TT are abnormalities of fibrinogen and circulating heparin-like anticoagulants.
