About This Test
Lupus anticoagulant are types of antibodies that attack healthy cells & proteins present in the cell membrane. These proteins are called phospholipids that play a role in blood clotting. This leads to a disorder of immune system called Anti-phospholipid syndrome. Symptoms are due to formation of blood clots in legs, lungs, kidneys & spleen. This condition can also affect pregnant women leading to miscarriages. There is no cure for this condition but medications can reduce the risk of blood clots & abortions.
