S-100 is useful in the diagnosis of Nerve sheath tumors such as Schwannomas. It also stains Astrogliomas & Ependymomas. It aids in the differential diagnosis of various soft tissue and myoepithelial neoplasms. S-100 positivity is also seen in Melanotic tumors specially amelanotic type.
