About This Test
HIV 1 genotyping and drug resistance test is crucial for customizing treatment, preventing virologic failure, and enhancing patient outcomes. Due to high replication rate and rapid mutation of HIV-1, mutations accumulate & some of them reduce susceptibility to antiretroviral drugs. This test identifies mutations in the Protease (PR), Reverse Transcriptase (RT), and Integrase (IN) regions of the pol gene in HIV-1 RNA, aiding early treatment modifications if required.

The patient should have a documented HIV-1 viral load greater than 2,000 copies/mL, measured within the past one week.
The HIV-1 genotyping and drug resistance test analyzes the genetic sequence of the HIV-1 virus to identify mutations that cause resistance to antiretroviral drugs (ARVs). This test is crucial for guiding effective HIV treatment, preventing therapy failure, and monitoring viral evolution.
TAT Policy
The Turnaround Time (TAT) depends on the following factors:
- Registration date and time
- Type of scan or test
- Scan time or sample collection time
In uncommon circumstances, TAT may be delayed due to test complexity or reasons beyond our control. You will be informed of the estimated TAT at the time of registration.
