About This Test
Histoplasma capsulatum is a fungus that disperses the spores in the air. These spores enter the body through infected air. Majority of the people have no symptoms but some can have mild symptoms of cough, fever & fatigue. Serious infections are seen in immunocompromised individuals. Histoplasma antigen is detected in the urine of 95% patients with progressive disseminated histoplasmosis, acute pulmonary histoplasmosis and in patients with HIV / AIDS. This test is also used to monitor the response to treatment.
